THE RICHEST, THE STRONGEST AND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL
Who is the richest man on this earth? Who is
the strongest? Who is the most intelligent? And, who is the most beautiful
woman in this world? Who is the fairest? Tallest?Wittiest?...
All that rubbish, I say.
This world has more than 7.6 billion people,
today… and, I am supposed to vote for the richest, the strongest, the most
intelligent, the most beautiful, the fairest, the tallest and the wittiest…
Right?
The wealthiest men do not flaunt their
wealth, nor do the strongest men flaunt their bodies… The most intelligent men
and women do not take part in the IQ and JK contests… nor do the most stunning
women walk the ramp…
Beauty, always, lies in the eyes of the
beholder… Some of the tribal women are the most beautiful creations on this
planet… While the wealth made of gold, stock and cash can corrode, the wealth
made of intangible substance cannot…
And yes, self-confidence can be the best attire
we can ever wear… Ironically, our shyness can be the most precious jewel we can
ever wear, too!
When Gandhi wore a three-piece suit in
England and South Africa, he did not harness in his soul the kind of power he
did when he covered himself with a loin cloth around his waist, here in his
homeland… Mother Teresa walked the burning streets of Calcutta (now Kolkata) in
sandals that can put Rubi Slippers (Price 3-million US dollars!) to shame!
The Richest, the Strongest, the Fairest, the
Most Intelligent, the Most Beautiful… yes, all these are just ‘Labels’… somebody’s
opinion. The more we believe in them, the lesser we believe in our own inner
wealth, strength and beauty…
I am not trying to sound arrogant here… I am
trying to sound less dependent on external certification and validation…
An hour ago, I saw a Post shared by my friend, Purushottam. “Priyanka Chopra voted
as World’s 2nd Most Beautiful Woman… Kudos!”
I smiled and commented: “Puru, believe me:
Sushmita (not 'Sen' but 'Ghosh') is more beautiful! So, that voting is
'rigged', I say!!!! Love”
I have not seen Priyanka Chopra except on
screen and newspapers… But, I have seen Sushmita, my friend Purushottam’s wife
in real… She is really fair and lovely… She is also simple and graceful.
Purushottam in his witty-best replied: “It's
mentioned as '2nd Most Beautiful'!”
“I am okay with that,” I concluded, “You
will get the best dinner tonight!!!!
The meaning of my friend's name, Purushottam - Purush-uttam –
conveys it all for us: the Supreme Being… the Best, the Highest, the Most
Intelligent and the Most Beautiful…
Time to say ‘Kudos’, therefore!
