IF YOU WANT SOLUTIONS...
“Always think
in terms of solutions.
Focusing on the
problems usually gives us more of them.”
― Sam Owen
If Life has problems,
Life also has solutions. Putting it in another way, if there cannot be a Life
without problems, there also cannot be a Life without solutions.
I think, we have two kinds of people around us: those who live
as part of this world’s problems and those who live as part of the solutions!
Let’s take any problem in our personal life or in the world
outside… and, let’s honestly examine our mindsets: on which side are we
standing… as part of the problem or as part of the solution?
I believe, that helping little kids foster a mindset of solution
is the greatest service we can ever do to mankind. Whether we are reactive
adults – always blaming, cribbing, complaining, conspiring and avenging… or proactive
adults – always willing to take responsibility by offering and seeking help, with
trust, good communication, cooperation, forbearance and forgiveness… yes, the
seeds of our adulthood are always sown in our childhood…
Kids, who never learn to share their toys, will never learn to
share and accommodate, forgive and forget, never learn to see the goodness in
others when they grow up… Yes, how can you expect these kids to be part of the
solutions when they become adults?
The chronic fault-finders around us don’t just pop up from
nowhere… They have been always there, never learning to drop their
fault-finding mindset. Organizations and congregations, families, schools and
governments – yes, you find the fault-finding cribbers everywhere. Problems
mount because of this breed… It’s a sad state!
On the other hand, the problem-solvers, too, don’t just pop up
from nowhere… They, too, have been always there, learning early in life to
cultivate a problem-solving mindset. Blessed are the organizations and congregations,
families, schools and governments which are inhabited by this breed… Yes, it’s
a blessed state!
So, the question I need to ask myself: Am I here as part of the
problem, or as part of the solution?
If we sincerely want solutions to our problems, we need to focus
more and more and more on the solutions…
I don’t think, there is a better way to reach there!
