WE NEED HELP TO OVERCOME OUR FEARS

Image
O ne reason why we need to team up to achieve our goals is, that, as much as we pool our individual strengths together, we also complement our individual weaknesses with each others’ strengths. If I am extremely creative, someone in our team is extremely organized, cautions or communicative… If I am bad in handling money, someone in our team may be brilliant at that. As a team, we can certainly achieve a thousand-fold more than what we can achieve as individuals… “Why can’t we ourselves overcome all our weaknesses and then go for the kill all alone? Well, that’s not practical. Moreover, we can go only so much on our own. To go far, to do it big, we need to do it together as a team… creating a ‘Master-mind alliance’ as Napoleon Hill puts it. As individuals, most of us suffer from the fear of failure: What if I fail? What if I don’t succeed? What if I lose whatever I possess now? What will others think? So, for individuals, this remains a huge block… unless the i...

THE FLIGHT OF CANADIAN GEESE

Image
Pic.: Mini Milind "None of us is as smart as all of us." - Ken Blanchard W hen I first heard about the legend of Canadian geese, it, indeed, left me with goose bumps! The legend goes, that these geese fly over five-thousand miles, from Canada to France, in a ‘V’ formation… There is a science behind this: The first ones do the effort; the second ones don’t have to…They are subs to the first ones. And, then, the second ones take over. Like this, they complete the mighty flight of five-thousand miles, from Canada to France! “None of us is as smart as all of us,” says Ken Blanchard. Alone, we may not be able to fly even a mile. But, these Canadian geese teach us what we are capable of when we learn to fly as a team. Each one of us possesses in him his own inherent strength. I have my exceptional strength and others have theirs. A great team is born when we come together and make a common pool of our individual skills, talents and exp...

PICK A FEW GOOD MEN AND WOMEN

Image
Pic.: Malabika Ganguly “When was ever honey made with one bee in a hive?” Thomas Hood A few good men. Well, I am not referring to the Hollywood thriller, here. I am referring to the power that can be harnessed if we surround ourselves with a few good men ( and women). Yes, just a few, who are very, very good in their respective fields… Whenever I think of achieving something on my own, with my individual capability, it can take me only so far… My limitations become the limitations of my goal and drive; my fears, invariably, hold me back after a certain point… Now, if I team-up with a few experts and work in harmony to achieve our common vision, the power harnessed through this alliance can be stupendous… So, always, the leadership mantra is this: Pick some good men (and women) who can help you forge a formidable team… Inspire them with your vision; make them feel that it is their own vision, their own success… Make ...

THE TEAM

He shines there like the pole star - dramatically distinct. He commands that place, because, no one else in the world has scored so many Test and ODI centuries ... No one else has scored that many runs. And, runs and centuries are still coming. The game is far from over. He is live and kicking... and, it seems, his best is yet to come! This incredibly prolific run-machine, this enduring cricket legacy... Yes, he is what he is because he is an excellent 'team player'. He is Sachin - Sachin Tendulkar. Yes, Sachin Tendulkar should not keep wickets, should not bowl too often, should not lead the Indian team. He should do what he can - and does - best: batting. The best batsman may not necessarily be the best captain. Sachin couldn't prove himself to be a fine captain, when he had lead the Indian team. He has been, on and off, a successful bowler. But, the Team India can not count on him as the key bowler. The genius of Sachin lies in what he does exclusively his way: the battin...
