THE GREAT REALIZATION
"People
don’t change;
they
come closer and closer
to
who they really are.”
Faraaz
Kazi
It
sounds very spiritual or philosophical when we say, that this lockdown has
taught us the value of our family… That, earlier we all had disconnected
ourselves from our own near and dear ones… We had no time for each other… We
were busy pursuing ‘our own things’… lost in our own gadgets… and all that…
Actually, what I
see now is a crazy thing: we are locked within our own houses, but we have distanced
ourselves literally and figuratively… We find ourselves pursuing ‘our own things’
even more aggressively and selfishly than ever before, lost in our gadgets even
more… We are together here, by force and not by choice… There doesn’t seem to
be beauty in this togetherness… The complaining and cribbing haven’t stopped…
In fact, we frequently seem to be steaming, we are frequently seen on the edge…
And why?
Because, now
there is no escape away from home… At home the escape is what we watch, listen
and do - plugging our ears. And, so, any slightest disturbance seems a massive
encroachment… And the lid goes up!
Yes, there is an
opportunity to find meaning in this chaos… Yes, there is an opportunity to
find the true value of all the gifts which we have been taking for granted… relationships
which we have been taking for granted… Yes, there is a great opportunity to
realize how futile it is to keep amassing, keep building… how little we all
need… how silly our egoes and self-importance are… Yes, there is an opportunity
here for our change of heart, if we really want it…
The question,
therefore, is this: What are we actually waiting for in our houses – the same
old life, or a new life?
I really do not
know. I may sound very cynical when I say this: As a society – as a human race –
soon, we all shall get into the same old ‘race’. But, as individuals, you and me can hope to be a lot better humans
- more kinder, less greedy and intolerant…
A dear friend
sent to me this video, early last morning…
And, another
dear friend, sent this one, early this morning…
All beautiful…
All meaningful…
But, then, as I
said, I do not know about the human race… I only know about me… and, I hope,
you realize it, too…
So, let’s call
it – ‘THE GREAT REALIZATION’!
