THE LAST LUKKA IN THE PROCESSION

Image
T here is a video doing rounds on social media. In this video, Justice Katju, former judge of the Supreme Court of India and the former Chairman of Press Council of India – in one stroke of his brush – paints ‘everything’ in this county has collapsed… the Government and the political class have totally become corrupt… Judiciary, Media, Education system and everything else. So, he thinks, only a ‘total revolution’ in this country alone can fix this problem! When I heard this person – who is not less than a former justice of the highest court in our country – I felt sorry for him. “Everything in our country has collapsed?” I wondered, “Everyone – every politician, every judge, every reporter and news editor, every teacher, principal and school trustee, every spiritual guru… yes, has everyone turned ‘black’? But, another person – and, I am not talking about any passerby in your life – might think you are the worst creature on this earth... a mistake, a disaster, a demon! So, unless you learn to live by your own light – the light from your own healthy opinion of yourself – it is going to be to...

Pic.: Vincent D'Souza L ong time ago, once, a Wolf was in terrible pain... A bone was stuck in his throat. When he saw a Crane around, he pleaded before her to send her long bill down his throat and pull out the bone. The Wolf made a promise, “Trust me, my friend, I will reward you handsomely for your help.” Convinced, the Crane quickly got into action. She placed her long bill in the mouth of the Wolf and took out the bone, quite effortlessly. The Wolf was relieved. “Thanks for your prompt help,” he said to the Crane and began to dash off his way. “Wait a minute, my friend,” cried out the Crane, “What about my reward?” “What about your reward?” the Wolf turned back to answer, grinding his deadly teeth, “Well, my friend, you have won a good fortune, already. You can, now, go around boasting before the whole world, that you had the grit and the gumption to put your head in a Wolf’s mouth and yet to walk away scot-free!” ...
