OFFER NO RESISTANCE TO LIFE
“To offer no
resistance to life
is to be in a state of
grace, ease and lightness.”
Eckhart Tolle
One of the surest ways to keep our peace is never to overplay our
difficulties and challenges in life. While on the one side, you and I try to protect
ourselves against Life’s unforeseen challenges, on the other side, Life, often,
throws before us these challenges, and catches us off guard…
Health
crisis, financial crisis, relationship crisis – and a dozen more of them… Life
is unpredictable… It throws before us fresh challenges, especially, when we
really, really do not want to face them…
Thus,
I have come to this conclusion: No matter how big the challenge Life throws
before me, I should never overplay it, never dramatize it…
In
other words, the lesser I resist, the more ease and peace I find. That’s the
only way to find grace and courage… It is acceptance, the seat of peace.
There
is no answer to our angst: ‘Why me?’
The only sane answer, I have come to find inside me is: ‘It’s okay… It’s okay.’
Premanand ji Maharaj has offered solace and peace to millions.
But, both his kidneys have failed… Well, his spirit and zest for life - and ‘giving’
- hasn’t diminished. I know, he is human, after all… He won’t be able to keep
going for long. But, I don’t see him resisting God’s will… There is calm, there
is acceptance, there is grace…
One of my favourite Gospel singers is Dottie Rambo. She spent her
whole life singing praise and glory to God. But, then, one day while on her way
back after one of her holy concerts, her life was brought to a tragic end, when
her bus met with an accident… Dottie was 74 by then…
“Why
Dottie, God?”
There
won’t be an answer, as I said…
If
people like Premanand ji Maharaj and Dottie Rambo had to face their challenges
despite their lifetime devotion and dedication to God, people like us should,
certainly, be ready to accept what Life brings us…
Joseph
Prince says:
“One day in God’s
grace is equivalent to
a thousand days of
striving by your efforts.”
Yes, what a
promise!!
