THE IMITATION OF CHRIST

Image
“Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of   dead habit .” From Tagore’s poem ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’   M y previous Blog was about gossip! “Sir, you should blog on this topic. It’s not gossip, but awareness,” Brinal messaged me, last night, along with a moving video on Fr. Stan Swami’s life, work and last days, which lead to his death… I replied, “Brinal, we all are deeply moved and anguished by this. Hundreds of people, with clean conscience, are speaking up. You and I, Christians, should quietly pray… for better sense to prevail and for Fr. Stan’s soul to rest in peace. Honestly, I am too disturbed to write on him, now… Just praying.” “But, Sir, the pen is mightier than sword. You have the gift of writing… A way to reach out to many without saying a word. Of course, at this stage, we can only pray. But, you can do both – write and pray. Please write, Sir,” Brinal insisted. “Of course, I will, dear. I...

WORRYING OVER THE MISSING PLANES

Image
“Worry pretends to be necessary; but, it serves no useful purpose.” Eckhart Tolle   I n life, some things always remain constant. One such thing is our tendency to worry over the ‘missing planes’ in the far-away skies… and groan about kissing couples in the local gardens. We get a strange kick when we stand on the roadside and watch, holding our breaths, those endless cock-fights, the bull-fights and, yes, the Arnab Vs. Lutyens or Kangana Vs. Shiv Sena freestyle wrestlings! Today, looking at myself and my fellow-beings, I was compelled to pull out this Blog which I had posted on 25 th March, 2014… More than six-and-a-half years since that date, some things have remained – and will remain – constant… Hope, you enjoy reading about this everyday amusement… BOSS, GO AND SLEEP QUIETLY A ll of us have our ‘pet’ and ‘pests’. But, if two of my ‘pests’ are fighting, I have this tendency in me to root for that pest who I detest less. Like last night, while I was...

WHERE THE MIND IS WITHOUT FEAR

Image
“He who has overcome his fears will truly be free.” ―  Aristotle S ome days ago, when Hollywood actor Martin Sheen (during his speech at the weekly Fire Drill Friday protest against the climate Change in Washington DC.) had recited Rabindranath Tagore’s inspiring poem – ‘Where the Mind is without fear’, it caught the imagination of millions of people, all over the world. Tagore had initially penned this poem in 1910! Imagine, even after one-hundred-and-ten years, it resonates with us… It fills us with not only courage, but, also, gives us the much-needed wisdom…   And, what a time we all now live in! The poem is needed now more than any other time… Frankly, I did not feel like blogging during past several days… The mind needed clarity and wisdom… the heart needed courage. So, in a state like this, the best thing, I thought, I should do was to keep silent and pray… seek for guidance… Tagore’s ...

THERE IS, ALWAYS, A REASON

Image
"The one who plants trees, knowing that he will never sit  in their shade, has, at least, started to understand  the meaning of life." - Rabindranath Tagore A t this time, yesterday, suddenly the sky turned dark, exploded with deafening thunders, and, it poured like hell... "What the heck is this? October has come... and, it's raining as if we are in June or July." many of us reacted... The seasons have gone for  a toss... No one knows what comes next -  the winter, the summer or the monsoon... Gods must be crazy! Wait a minute... Why drag Gods into this mess? Humans must be crazy... Gods, please forgive us! They have declared that Aarey is not a jungle... The trees will go now... The little birds, insects, snakes, frogs, little and large animals will have to go... I wonder, where, but! This was how man made his home, here on this planet - making plants, creepers and creatures all homeless......
