ALL THE STARS WE STEAL FROM THE NIGHT SKY

All the shine of a thousand spotlights,

All the stars we steal from the night sky

Will never be enough

Never be enough

Towers of gold are still too little

These hands could hold the world, but it’ll

Never be enough

Never be enough.”

‘Never Enough’ from the movie ‘The Greatest Showman’

I am very fond of Elvis Presley’s songs and, particularly, his performances on stage… He was blessed with a velvety voice and mesmerizing looks… He was charismatic, just electrifying!

Now, when people like you and I deeply admire glamorous superstars like Elvis, we unwittingly let the Law of Attraction operate in us… We quietly attract the qualities of the stars who we idolize… We long for fame and success… If not as much as Elvis achieved in his 42 years lifetime, a tiny percentage of it, at least !

But, then, loving Elvis’ songs and performances is one thing. And, loving to be like him, is different altogether. With his phenomenal success and fame, Elvis’s life was plagued with huge inner conflicts. No amount of external success and fame can help you remain at peace when your inner life is constantly in conflict… It’s sad to see such a wonderful life fall apart… It’s sad to feel that loneliness!

Mostly, the Success that you and I try to emulate is the ‘external success’ – fame, money, power… yes, the ‘numbers’. Mercifully, some of us become tired of seeking and chasing them…

I said ‘some of us’!

For, no matter how often you watch your stars crashing, you still desire the external success – fame, money, power … yes the ‘numbers’. That’s addictive, and that’s a huge human-weakness… Yeh dil maange more…  Will never, never, never be enough!

These Pandemic times have made me conscious of what is ‘essential’… What keeps me grounded and peaceful. The excess is getting dropped… ‘The phenomenal success’ – yes, it looks more and more like a ‘trap’… a fantasy life in a bubble!

I read good books… I listen to amazing songs and watch beautiful films. Alongside, I, also, watch inside me and listen to what my heart truly desires…
