WHEN IT'S RAINING HEAVILY OUTSIDE

Image
“Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many  days in the year as you make use of.” Charles Richards   I t’s has been raining heavily for two days, now. The skies are dark, the downpour is heavy and relentless. But, then, it is the rainy season… It is supposed to rain, the skies are supposed to be dark during this season. And, soon, this season will pass… the Winter will come, when, it is supposed to be cold. Finally, when the Summer comes, it is expected it to be hot, we expect ourselves to sweat more… The Nature goes about doing her job quietly, and faithfully. She sends seasons to us, each one with an expiry date… No season comes here to stay forever… One goes, another comes, another goes, yet another comes… That’s how Life, here on Earth, is designed to be. The key to happiness lies in making the most of each season when it presents itself before us. For example, it’s pouring heavily right now and I can see darkness outside my window even at 12...

AN INCOMPLETE EMAIL

Image
A friend of mine, who is a consultant in one of the organizations in Mumbai, narrated to me this interesting episode… Some days ago, we got the notification in our office complex (A twenty-one storey office complex), that the server would be down for an hour. The employees, so dependent on their computers, suddenly felt clueless as to what was to be done when they could not use their computers for an hour! They were waiting for instructions from me. Meanwhile, a young employee came over to me and said, ‘Sir, we would like to listen to some motivational things from you.’ A couple of her associates seconded their friend’s proposal. I spontaneously proposed to them something different… ‘We are on the eleventh floor here,’ I said, ‘Any of you has come up here or go down from here using the staircase?’ There was none. So, I suggested, that we walked down the stairs and discover what was there on each floor… They loved the idea. By the time we all landed on the...

WINNING OUR BATTLES NOT BY FIGHTING, BUT BY LAUGHING

Image
Pic.: Manjeet Singh Kukreja W hen I met Kannan in our Tai Chi class, today morning, I suddenly remembered that I had failed to inform him about the Post he had inspired me to write last Sunday. But, strangely, when I tried to recall the subject or the title, I couldn’t just do it. Kannan tried to recall, but even he couldn’t. Finally, we both laughed and I heard Kannan saying, “Forget it; it doesn’t matter.” “What matters is this moment – let’s live it fully, spontaneously and laughingly,” Kannan had a new story to support his ‘Power-of-Now’ theory. The story… “Two days ago, I met this 89-year-old neighbor of mine outside our house. He began to complain about the poor health condition of his 91-year-old sister-in-law. ‘Things are very bad… She doesn’t eat… doesn’t listen… doesn’t take medicines… We are worried and stressed out,’ the elderly gentleman went on. Once home, I told my wife that I would be paying a visit to the 91-year-old lady. ‘Even I ...

BELLS ARE CHIMING...

Image
“I will wish you on Christmas,” He said. “Wish me now, Today is Christmas,” I told him. “Don’t be a fool, my friend;” He said irritated, “Every day is not Christmas.” I did not want to see My friend irritated With what I said… So, I said, “Yes, friend, Every day is not Christmas.” When Christmas comes, Bells will chime… Snow will fall… And, Stars will be bright… There will be music, There will be dance… And, there will be A never-ending night! Yes, that is the time, Someone wants to wish me: “Merry Christmas!” Not, NOW! There is music in my heart… There is dance in my soul… The bells are chiming… The snow is falling… And, yes, the Stars are bright. My heart longs to wish, “Merry Christmas, my friend… Please, don’t wait.” GERALD D'CUNHA THANKS: The brilliant images used in this Post are by Ashok Ahuja. THE TIME OF MY LIFE

J ust the last night, I told someone who cares for me: “I am having the time of my life!” And, the person said, so spontaneously: “Dear, I am so happy for you!” Then, I began to wonder: Why is it so difficult for me to feel so… for all my ‘life time’? I am on the top of the mountain, right now… That’s my ‘life time'… Yes, ‘Now’… I am so happy for me, That, I am having the time of my life… I am happy, That, this IS my ‘life time’! GERALD D'CUNHA
