THE BEAUTY IN YOUR WORK
“Let there be beauty in your work,” I
was repeatedly telling the class, last evening. Many had come without the
homework; and, many had come with a shoddy work. Some had copied (out of my
fear) from others. And yes, there were a few, who had put their hearts into the
work they had done…
Everything was visible, open…
The work of heart was glowing… It was beautiful!
The shoddy work, the copied
work, too, was visible… It was ugly!
In the midst of my repeated
reminders to my students – “Let there be beauty in your work” – I began to
wonder: “Do they know how to add beauty into their work? And, why to add it?”
“To add beauty into your work,
your heart has to be there in it,” I found myself telling them. “When your
heart has gone into your work, it glows… captivates others’ hearts…"
Well, my students couldn’t have
an argument on it. Those who had sincerely done their work, they knew how they
had done it… what had gone into their work. On the other hand, those who had
come with shoddy or copied work, too, knew how they had done it… and, what had
gone into their work. The ones who had come without doing any work at all,
well, they, too, knew the story…
Yes, your work speaks for itself…
and, only fools or idiots expect it to glow, look beautiful… when their hearts
haven’t gone into their work!
So, when the heart is there, the
beauty is there!
Now,
why should the beauty be there in your work?
Why should beauty be there in
the food which is prepared or served?
Why should beauty be there in
the song which is written or sung?
Why should beauty be there in
the house which is built or home which is made?
Why should beauty be there in
the clothes which are designed or worn?
Why should beauty be there in
the lesson which is taught or learnt?
Why should beauty be there in
the goods which are bought or sold?
Why should beauty be there in
the prayers which are sent or the faith in which they are wrapped?
Why should beauty be there in
our dreams, our aspirations?
Why should beauty be there in
our love and promises?
Even in our fears and sorrows?
Yes, why?
I told my students: “Find why
you should add beauty to your work…”
Hope, they will…
Everything in life
can be done
by us in two ways:
with our hearts… and, without!
And, everything that we see in
life
is either beautiful… or not!
Hope, there isn’t any need to argue
on it!
