OUR SMALL COMMITMENTS... OUR STRONG COMMITMENTS

Pic.: Gloria Pinto

A person I know is in his forties and is in a very good shape. I have known him for last fifteen years, and all along these years, he has been very particular about his eating habits and physical exercise. He walks every morning and spends a good time in the gym. It is a delight to see his well-maintained physique, and yes, to feel the energy and positive vibes he exudes.

This morning, this gentleman was here in my office on some work when I was about to start typing my daily post. He was in his fitness-gear and had come directly from the gym.

“How do you do it, every day?” he said to me referring to my daily blogging habit, “It is really amazing!”

“I was about to ask the same question to you, my friend,” I said to him with my smile, “How do you do it every day? It is amazing!”

And, we both laughed, loudly!

He values what he does… I value what I do. He has made his commitment… I have made mine…

What we love in life, we always find time to do. Our priorities directly depend on the depth of our love for task in hand. What we don’t like, we postpone…

Commitment is a call of our hearts…

My friend has a definite and personal reason why he has to keep himself physically fit… He values that…

I have a definite and personal reason why I have to blog every day… I value that…

My friend told me that he has been walking, gymming and dieting ever since he was in college… “I remember making a commitment to this when I was just 18 and I am glad and proud that I have still kept my commitment.”

I felt the same thing about my writings. I remember writing my notes in my diaries ever since I was 20… I would write them everyday… even if it meant a few lines… I would write them even on used envelopes, torn sheets, lovely diaries, wherever my hands reached… on whatever my heart got the inspiration from. By books were born from this habit of writing my daily notes… Blogging and FB came much later. Yes, what my friend said, I too had done: I had made a silent commitment to myself to write, something at least, every day, and I am glad and proud that I have kept my commitment over all these years.

“There is a direct link between your silent commitments and your self-confidence in life,” I had reminded my students in the class today. Many are very, very particular in doing their homework, while there are many, they just can’t find enough motivation to touch books at home…

Though I am annoyed or frustrated with my students, I am not amused at all!

It, always, starts with our small commitments, which, we make very, very strongly in our hearts… Over a period of time, they help us shape our destinies…

Yes, our small commitments…

our strong commitments!
