WHEN WE ARE VERY FOND OF LIFE... HOPE

I am very fond of both the US President Mr. Barack Obama and our own P.M., Mr. Manmohan Singh. I have, always, held them to be very sincere, extremely committed and exceptionally knowledgeable leaders. So, when they face huge problems, I feel bad for them.

Our P.M. never craved to become country’s Prime Minister. Yet, he was destined to… and, for such a long tenure. Things in our country have gone bad. Well, the Congress-baiters would immediately conclude, “All because of the Congress misrule… and, our P.M.’s lackluster leadership.”

President Obama’s problems are a hundred-fold bigger - even messier and even scarier - than our P.M.’s. For all these days, when the newspapers and televisions were talking about the US debt-limit, I really did not realize how big it was. I just happened to see that figure, today: US- Dollar 16.7 trillion!

Imagine, the most prosperous and the mightiest nation on Earth – the only Super Power… the nation that gives tillions of dollars in aid to other nations – yes, imagine, this very nation has to worry about its own capacity to meet its bills, it has to worry about the default in payments… It has to shut down government aided services…

Yes, imagine the plight, the tension and the fears of my hero – President Obama!

And here, when every second citizen assumes that when Congress goes – when Mr. Manmohan Singh goes – and, perhaps when Mr. Narendra Modi or Mr. Arvind Kejriwal sit on the P.M.’s seat, all our woes will go… yes, when my fellow-men keep such hopes, I wonder ‘How?’

Well, this is not a Congress or Mr. Manmohan Singh loyalist’s election propaganda. I want the best for my country… and, I have faith in its people and the leaders. We elect the leaders, we give them the power… and, if things go wrong, we all are equally responsible…

But, then, this Post is not about elections, leaders or parties. It is about our problems… their nature… How universal they are… How big and bad they can be… and, how, they can befall even the fine leaders or citizens… and, most importantly, how we all have within us that ‘steely something’ – which we never knew we possessed… yes, the mysterious power which enables us defeat our Goliath-size problems…

I am very fond of both Mr. Obama and Mr. Manmohan Singh…

I am very fond of Life…

I am very fond of hope… The triumph of goodness!
