UNLESS YOU SAY, WITH ALL YOUR HEART - 'I LOVE YOU'

We
saw in recently concluded edition of IPL, that after winning the toss, many
teams chose to field. The reason was obvious: the target to win was there,
clearly, before their eyes... They could, constantly, check on their current
and required run-rates... Yes, invariably, it had helped many teams to win the
big matches... give the best... perform the unthinkable, because, the target
had helped them gear up, fight, win.
I give this example to my students, regularly. I tell
them, “The best way to score well in exams is to know clearly what is the
cut-off to get into the college you desire... and, then, go for it with all
that you possess. On the other hand, if you do not know which college you want
to get into, what stream you want to take and what is the cut-off out there, you
will not have the fire-power in your belly to achieve a big score.”
What applies in the game of cricket, also, applies in
exams... and, yes, it applies everywhere else, too.
Let others set target – the benchmark - for you... You
try to surpass it, beat it!
There is one more advice I give to my students. “After thinking enough on it, you announce it
– you goal - before important people in your life... Make your goal public, and
do it very, very seriously.”
Well, you need to be a man of self-respect! Else, your
public statement is going to be nothing but a lose statement. It will mean
nothing!
I
like that big-screen image in a stadium... It makes your target public... It
sets you time-frame to achieve it... It makes you commit... go for it with a
do-or-die approach...
Till you do not know your target, and till there is no
deadline to achieve it... and, above all, till you do not make that ‘public
announcement’... you will remain untapped, rather trapped in your fear-induced
limitations...
Anuraag, a friend of mine, puts it teasingly: “Unless you
say with all your heart, ‘I love you’, she won’t be yours!”
The way to seduce a sweetheart is, also, the way to
seduce our other goals in life – score in an exam or score in a match... or whatever
that is!
