WHEN YOU GET THE CHOICE TO SIT OUT OR DANCE...

I HOPE YOU DANCE

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance..

(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along

Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone)

When I first listened to this song - ‘I Hope You Dance’ (written by Mark Sanders and Tia Sillers and performed by Lee Ann Womack), I just fell in love with both the song and its lyrics. Rarely one comes across a song adorned with such mature, meaningful and uplifting lines. Ever since then, I have not only revisited this song and recharged my heart with its message, but, I have, also, gifted these lyrics or song to so many young-ones…

Yes, I have blogged, too, on it a couple of times…

I can never have enough of it… Nor anyone can… I, seriously, think so.

Just reflect on these two lines:

“I hope you never lose your sense of wonder…”

“I hope you still small when you stand beside the ocean…”

The song is of hope. It helps me remain firmly grounded when times are great. It, also, helps stay equally grounded when times are bleak…

“I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance…”

There is something sublime in these words… In fact, it is a song to keep us eternally zestful, awe-struck and thankful… eternally young and celebrating…

“And when you get the choice to sit out or dance,” the song reminds us, “I hope you dance… I hope you dance.”

Today, I, once again, had a choice to make… Mind was filled with fear and heart with bitterness… “What would I do – sit out or dance?”

I chose the latter… Yes,

“Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin'.”

I promised that I would give faith a fighting chance…
And, I would dance… I would dance.
