WE CAN PAINT THE SKY, NOT CREATE IT
“The
only unique contribution that we will ever make
in
this world will be born out of our creativity.”
Brene
Brown
A famous
motivational guru had made this statement: ‘Winners don’t do different things;
they do things differently.’
Interestingly, the
best-selling author and motivational guru had the sharpest and the quickest business-acumen
to copyright this line. So, it’s ‘registered’ under the relevant Intellectual Property
Act… Now, you and I can’t claim it as ours… It is his – the great guru’s!
Sometimes, I find it so silly
when someone claims, that a line like the one mentioned – which is a universal
and age-old truth – as his/her property. Yes, I agree and marvel at his/her
business acumen… to make a fortune out of common wisdom…
Is that creativity?
I think, it is.
And, if it is, so be it.
Many of us have come across
this dialogue between a honeybee and a concerned creature:
Once, a concerned creature
asks a honeybee: “My friend, you take so much effort and painstakingly build
your honeycomb. Then, a greedy man comes along, destroys what you have built and
steals away all the honey… Don’t you feel sad, angry or dismayed? What makes
you build it all over again?”
“Man can only steal all the
honey I make, my dear friend,” replies the honeybee, “but, he can’t steal my
art of honey-making.”
With due respect to every ‘genius’
in this world – down through the ages – all that I want to say is this: “Everything
you and I create under the Sun is just a ‘theft’ of what God had already
created – yes, so painstakingly, so brilliantly. You and I can only steal the
honey of His great honeycomb… To go around, thumping our chests, is silly…
The God must be laughing!
When
His disciples approached Jesus and said, “Master, teach us a simple prayer to
say every day, He, instantaneously, taught them the prayer, which, ever since, has
been on the lips of every Christian and even many non-Christians… It’s known as
‘The Lord’s Prayer’, or ‘Our Father’… Look at the genius of Sir Cliff Richard:
While we are awestruck by every genius under the God’s sky, we tend to miss out on the sky itself, and the
Great Genius lying low behind the sky…
Is He laughing?
