A SINNER IS A WINNER IF HE MAKES A COMEBACK IN LIFE
My
wife and I wanted to watch ‘Sanju’ and we did it on the very first day!
We are happy we did it!
It’s perfectly fine, if
someone, who loves our county more than we both do, call my wife and me as ‘Desh
Drohis’… Because, to them Sanjay Dutt was a ‘Desh Drohi’, a ‘Terrorist’, a ‘hard
core criminal’, a 'shameless womanizer', a 'dirty drug addict'…
Add more, if I have
left out anything, please…
The day we watched ‘Sanju’,
it was a full house. And, who had filled the house? Such lovely people – grandparents
and young boys and girls, couple from decent families… and, I did not see a
single soul going home ‘cursing’ Sanjay Dutt, Ranbir Kapoor, Rajkumar
Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Paresh Rawal or anyone…
And, I don’t believe, that any one of them will love our country less now just because they made or watched ‘Sanju’…
I haven’t met Sanjay
Dutt or his father, Sunil Dutt. I have never been a great fan of both except
for Munna bhai movies and, perhaps, this one. Still, my heart does tell me, that Sanjay Dutt was not a ‘Terrorist’ or a ‘Desh Drohi’… I will call him by whatever name you
want me to call him, but those two. And, for that, I don’t mind being stoned!
We don’t know who
Sanjay Dutt is. Whatever we know, we know through the media and the movies… and,
yes, the ‘loose tongue’ – call it the romour mill! Still, we take pride in
sitting on the judgement seat and passing our verdict on him…
I have had chronic alcoholics
in my family including my own dad and brother. While the world condemned them,
my mom and we kids prayed, hoped and tried to help them out in our own way. I
have had my friends, colleagues (very educated and coming from pious families)
doing drugs. I have seen the guilt, shame, fear and helplessness not only on
their faces but on their loved ones’, too. While everyone condemned them, the
loved ones did not…
I have seen many, many,
many serial womanizers. But, making amends in their lives and, becoming great
dads, with such lovely kids…
One thing common about
all addicts – be it alcohol, drugs, women and, even, crime – they all are ‘fragile’
in their mind. Only love, compassion, forgiveness, support, reassurance and
loads of patience and hope can heal them. Nothing else… Least of all
condemnation and punishment!
Someone I knew, once,
would fiercely condemn every drug addict like dirt. When his own son became
one, this man was a shattered soul! The same thing I have witnessed in many who
would fanatically condemned young kids that committed small crimes. What they
would fanatically condemn had come home to haunt them!
Now, please don’t tell
me, that you and I are spared from this Law of Karma!
I strongly believe,
that a sinner is a winner if he makes a comeback in life. Others’ validation
hardly matters…
That’s why I loved the
song that sends us home when we leave ‘Sanju’…
“Bas ho gaya’ Enough is Enough!
