HOW CAN WE DO THAT?

Joe called me up this morning. Surprisingly, to tell me that he had started reading my blog, every morning!

I had always thought (even though we are such great pals) that he would not be the one to find anything of substance in simple stuff like my Blog.

What we assume are only assumptions. They may not be true!

So, when Joe expressed his fondness for my Blog, I felt good about myself… What a feeling that is! That, early in the morning - somewhere, hundreds and thousands of miles afar - someone thinks of you as soon as he or she begins the day! That, what you write, makes his or her day… Wow! What a feeling that is! What a way to live!

I felt, for a moment, that I was the richest man on this earth! And, I resolved, once again, come what may, I would live this way!

Then, I couldn’t refrain myself from asking Joe, what he had meant when he said: “How can I drive? Mariette (his wife) has gone to Mumbai!”

As I had told in my earlier post, I had just laughed on hearing this statement, and then wondered: “What did he mean by that?”

Joe was not in a mood to fool around with me, this morning. “You know Gerry how it is,” he said. “Mariette has to manage my three children, this big house, her demanding job… and me. Now she is not around and I can make out how tough it is to do what a lady has to do in the house!” He continued, “We men take our wives’ contribution for granted… We drive them crazy with our demands and indifference.”

Distance makes love fonder!

Neither Joe, nor I,
nor anyone with a reasonably sane mind,
here on this earth,
is an exception to this old principle!

By the time I publish this post, Mariette might be seated inside the plane and all set to go back home. And, Joe might be in his car, on his way to the airport in Mangalore, to receive her.

“Joe, are you driving?” I hear me ask him.

“How can I?” I hear him answer.

Yes, how can ‘we’ do that?

Yes, with such wonderful people in our lives!
