UNFOLD YOUR OWN MYTH

“Don't be satisfied with stories - how things have gone with others.

Unfold your own myth.”

 Rumi

The more I think on the subject of ‘Success’, the more I get convinced that, it is all about scripting our own – unique and distinct -  stories; it is all about unfolding our own myth...

Look at a small baby. It is so unique, so distinct. As a parent, when we look at the baby, we simply believe in its uniqueness... Its each little-gesture is a mighty milestone for us... We watch it in delight; we rejoice in it, celebrate it...  As the baby grows up, we encourage the kid to blossom fully with all its God-given gifts... We want our kid to sing, dance, draw, play, swim, act, click pictures, talk well, study well and behave well... All this we do with our kid, because, we believe that those things are good and our kids should be good in them...

But, somewhere along the way, we stop believing in our kid... Probably, that’s when the kid begins to assert itself... when it begins to script its own story, unfold its own myth. I am quite sure, this is how the Nature operates silently with all of us...  It wants each one of us to ‘bloom in our own gardens’...

Yes, Life has been, always, like this... In life, there comes a time when we accept the reality that our kids have their own script to write and their own myths to unfold. The early this time comes in our lives, the better for all of us.

Just as we watch a plant bloom, with all its distinct glory, in our garden, without interference – only caring and nurturing it with love... are we ready to do the same with our children? If we are not, we would only end up destroying the plant from seeing its glory... from telling the special story it was sent to tell, from unfolding the magic and myth that it was blessed to unfold...

Let’s look back at the process of our growing-up... Did we not come with our own special endowments – our distinct scripts and myths? Did our parents believe in us? Did they nurtures us or stifled us – yes, in the name of love and care? What about, now – are we on our way to glory or are we just sulking in shame, blame and regret?

So, as I said at the outset, the more I think on the subject of ‘Success’, the more I get convinced that it is all about scripting our own – unique and distinct -  stories; it is all about unfolding our own myth...

“Trust thyself,” Emerson had reminded us, long time ago, “every heart vibrates to that iron string.”
