LEAVE THEM TO THE GREATER LAW

“There’s no point in trying to convince someone who’s already made up his mind.” This is a wise and old piece of advice.

Now, we all make up our minds. In fact, we are encouraged to do so... Aren’t we?

But, what if someone is too adamant, too inflexible, too egoistic? And, what if this person keeps citing the ‘Laws’… Keeps accusing everyone’s actions as ‘illegal’?

Yes, this is the person, who, the Wise say, we should not try to convince. They have made up their minds… and, even if the whole world falls apart around them, they won’t move an inch!

But, invariably, they bring upon them the inevitable self-destruction… History has enough evidence to show us this truth!

The men who put Jesus Christ to death were such hardcore pharisees… They cited laws, and they always tried to trap Jesus through this medium…

When Jesus went around teaching and healing people on the Sabbath Day (The Jews, as per the Moses’ Law, rested and prayed on this day of the week. Working on the Sabbath Day was seen by them as an ‘unlawful’ act!). So, when they saw Jesus teaching and healing people on the Sabbath Day, they were up against Him… And, Jesus asked them this question: “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?

When they dragged a prostitute woman to Jesus, holding stones in their hands, and asked Him: “Our law says, that we should stone this woman to death… What have you to say?”

Jesus took a pause, bent down and wrote on the sand this: “The one among you who has not sinned, let him cast the first stone.”

When they tried to trick Jesus by asking whether He thought they should pay taxes to the government or not, He asked one of them to show a coin. “Whose picture you see on this coin?” He asked… “Caesar’s,” they replied. “Then, give Caesar what is his, give God what is His,” Jesus concluded.

Brilliant reasoning, no doubt. But, then, could ‘the Son of God’ change the minds of those hardcore pharisees?

Self-righteousness, always, comes from ignorance and insensitivity. Ego is the breeding ground for such a state of mind. Narcissists, sadists, and despots rise through it… and fall through it!

“Life is too short and too precious to be wasted on ego hassles… The tunnel will be too long and too dark. I did the best I could… Now, I leave it to the greater law – ‘The Law of the Nature’” … This was how I ended my conversation with a man, today, after trying hard and long to convince him… Yes, he has made up his mind, not to move an inch, even if the world falls apart around him…

The Law of the Nature is the law of Karma… May this law take its own course!
