SANITIZE HANDS AND SENSITIZE HEARTS

“Kindness is the language
which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
-      Mark Twain

Twelve-year-olds, Aadi and Tanmay, are classmates. Both of them have been enrolled for our upcoming Summer-programme on Personality Development. As schools are presently closed due to Corona virus, their parents wanted me to spend some time with the kids… and do whatever that could help them in life… anything.

So, the kids were there with me, today, for an hour and half. I like to tell them some interesting stories… show some meaningful videos… make them read some fascinating things, and, then, speak or write about them. As there are no exams in this, and, as there is no right or wrong, they simply love these things… And, I love these things even more!

It’s simply fun… A stress-buster for me!

As parents of these kids have strictly instructed them, they carry along small bottles of sanitizers. As soon as they come in, they sanitize their hands… and, they repeat it a couple of times in between, too. It was something none of us had seen in the past. But, now, it’s a familiar sight… Thanks to Corona!

Today, I showed Aadi and Tanmay these two videos:

The kids were supposed to watch these videos attentively and speak as well as write about them. As expected, the videos had touched the kids…

“Did you follow the story?” I asked.

“Yes Sir,” was the chorus.

“What did you learn?” I asked.

“That, it’s very important to wash our hands with soap before we eat, after we come from wash rooms or outside,” kids said.

“How old are you both?” I asked, just to drive home an important point…

“Twelve,” they replied…

“And, did you understand, that both these stories are about millions of kids, who live not even till the age of five!?"  I asked, and added, “Imagine, how fortunate you are!”

"So, what is the moral of these stories?” I checked.

“We need to be thankful!” the answer was unanimous…

“Yes… For that, just as we sanitize our hands, we need to sensitize our hearts, too.” I concluded.
