WHAT GOES UP DOESN'T STAY UP

What goes up doesn’t stay up… It comes down! This is not only a law of gravity, it is a law of the so-called ‘Success’ in life, too…

By ‘Success’, I am referring to our ‘achievements’ – the championship trophies we win, the business empires we build, the wealth we accumulate, the name and  fame we make for ourselves, and the positions we occupy in life – yes, everything that we build in the name of ‘Success’ – our ‘achievements’ – has to come down!

“So, why try to achieve anything or succeed in anything, at all?” Is this the question? Is this the point?

No Sir, that’s not the question I am trying ask, or the point I am trying to make…

The question I am trying ask, and point I am trying to make, is this: “Are we aware of this law – that, what goes up doesn’t stay up… It comes down”?

I think, that most of us are aware of this law. But, we live in a denial… We, also, silently wish, what goes up stays there up… forever. That’s why there is that constant struggle, anxiety, insecurity and conflict. Even gang-wars and world-wars!

The Egyptian empire, the Roman empire, the British empire, and all other empires – has not the Sun set on them? Alexander-the-Great to Ashoka-the-Great – Whatever happened to them? The USSR or the US, the spiritual empires to the underworld ones – nothing… I say nothing stays up!





Argentina has just won the Copa America football championship… after three consecutive failed attempts to be there… Lionel Messi can take a long sigh of relief, knowing well, that it's, probably, his last chance to take his country up there… But, we know, that neither Messi nor Argentina can stay up there, holding the ‘Cup’ aloft, forever!

What has gone up has to come down!

I am saying all this, today, not to discourage any of us from trying hard to be Champions in life… I am a great advocate of trying, dreaming and achieving greater heights in life… If we don’t do that, our lives decay… Change is the only constant, I know. But, it’s, also, important for us to live in the awareness, that what we have achieved, today, will not last forever… The Sun sets on everything and everyone in life!




That’s the only point I am trying to make…

Therefore, let’s desire to go up, by all means… Sorry, by ‘right means’!

But, let’s, also, keep in mind, that our ‘Copa America’ comes with a shelf-life… Messi goes, and someone else comes… What goes up, Sir, comes down!

Again, discouragement?

No Sir, encouragement…





Let’s go for the ‘Cup’… But, I won’t say ‘by all means’!
