THINGS WHICH MATTER MOST
“Things which matter most must never be
at the mercy of things which matter least.”
What
is not required, should go… What is not important, not to be involved in. It
doesn’t matter who picks up what you drop… It really doesn’t matter who takes
the credit for what you have not decided to involve in.
Most of us learn
the importance of ‘priorities’ in life only the hard way. A few bruises, even
wounds, are mandatory prerequisites. Or, so it seems!
Health becomes a
priority, for most of us, only when we start losing it. I said ‘for most of us’.
Similarly, those of us who keep professing the futility of money and its danger,
only begin to realize its importance only when we are driven to the wall when
we don’t have it… And, those of us, who are obsessed with it, begin to sense
the value of ‘things other than money’ only when the money that we amass cannot
be of any help to us…
Some of us are
obsessed with ‘siding’ with some personalities – mostly political leaders and their
parties. Even after knowing well, that the leaders and the parties we are so
obsessed with will never ever come to our help when we are in need. The blind
worship makes us dumb; and, yet, we are unable to see it. Our life – the people
who matter, the relationships with our near and dear ones – should be more
important to us than the parties and leaders whose flags we have chosen to
carry… troll on their behalf… argue on their behalf… fight on their behalf.
Funny it looks! Just think of it: We know, that we will never meet these
leaders in our life, leave alone, gain something. Yet, we allow ourselves to
become, through our blind worship, idiots of the top order!
Reacting on
behalf of the parties and leaders, knowing well, that they really do not matter
for our well-being, is an utter waste of time and energy. The same time and
energy, if diverted to things that matter in our life, can make life fruitful
and peaceful.
So, what is not
required in our life – the clutter, the toxins – should go. What is not
important for us, we should not involve in. Only then are we able to make way
for what is required and what is important.
Do we call them ‘Priorities’?
