YOU ARE MUCH BIGGER THAN THAT
“To
be wronged is nothing,
unless
you continue to remember it.”
Confucius
I don’t
think, that, there exists a single soul on this planet who hasn’t been hurt by
someone, or he/she hasn’t hurt someone. “To err is human.” This statement hasn’t
been tossed around as just one more proverb. We are humans; hence, we err… We
hurt others, including our own. And, others, including our own, do hurt us.
That fact said,
and that truth accepted, now what? Should we hold on to those hurts? Keep
remembering, reminding, digging, re-digging those painful memories? Let’s pause
for a moment and recall: Has digging, re-digging, remembering, reminding –
accusing, blaming, screaming, swearing, threatening, emotional-blackmailing…
yes, has any of these, which seems so familiar a thing for each of us, really
helped one bit? Or, have all of these only added more mess and turmoil into our
already turmoiled lives?
Funny
it sounds! We want peace and happiness; we want to walk light and feel
confident… Yet, we are unwilling to just get up and say ‘Enough of living like
a victim’… ‘Enough of digging up the past’… ‘I want to embrace Life with simple
trust’… ‘I want to do it for my own sake, for my own peace, for my own freedom’.
Look, how
complicated we make our lives because of our silly ego!
Forgiveness doesn’t
need our tormentor’s consent. For, there is no guarantee about such a consent.
And, what if we never get to meet our tormentor… ever?
Therefore,
forgiveness starts and ends from our own hearts. We choose to do it, because we
choose peace over being right. We know it, still we drink this poison called
resentment with the illusion that our tormentor dies…
The poison of resentment
– holding grudges – kills only the one who drinks it! Amen.
Rita Mae Brown
said it with her wit: “One of the keys to happiness is a bad memory.”
I seriously
think, that it’s better to be cursed with a bad memory, than be blessed with a
good memory of bad thing in our lives. Happiness is just impossible when we
dwell on bad, bad things…When we ‘see’ this truth, we are ‘freed’ from its
bondage…
“In the now,
nothing sticks,” says the spiritual teacher, Mooji. He, also, reminds us, “You
are so much bigger than that.”
Bigger than
what?
The mess, the
blame, the pain, the victimhood, the ego-wars… trying to be even, trying to fix
the other person… trying to change him/her… thirsting for revenge… the
punishment…
Yes, you and I –
our lives – are much bigger than that…
A bit longer
this video may be… But, it’s worth soaking in this amazing message from Mooji…
Please listen to it when your heart and mind are quiet…
