THE FALCON AND THE TOUCH-ME-NOT

This world
May have a billion people;
But, my world has only a few,
I can count them on my fingers…
One, two, three… fifty… Maybe, hundred!
Yes, only so many.

My heart rejoices when Stars smile on my people…
And it sinks when a dark cloud passes.
I soar like a Falcon
When they cheer me on from the ringside…
And I sulk like a ‘Touch-me-not petal
When they ignore my presence.

Such is my world…
Such are my feelings…
Such are my aspirations, joys and sorrows!

There are mornings, I just can not step out of my house
Without saying a goodbye to my beloved…
And there are mornings, I wish I knew
How to say a goodbye
Even when my heart is as heavy as a mill-stone!

My world is the world

I want to live…

I choose to live!

I see what I want to see…

I hear what I want to hear…

I speak what I want to speak!

Someone said that some days back,
He was in Chandigarh and he froze in the cold nights!
Well, I heard what he said…
But, I never felt the cold he was talking about!
I had a lot of sunshine in my life!
And, just last night, this man was with me,
And we were experiencing one of the chilliest nights,
Here in Mumbai...
“Gosh! I can’t bear this!” I cried.
“Remember, what I said about Chandigarh?”
This man said with a pride of an Alexander-the-Great!
No, I did not really remember –
Did not feel – the chill of Chandigarh!
My world was the cold wave of my city…
And my desire for warmth around this bonfire!

“The world is within me,” I am told by the Wise-men.
If so, the Seasons, too, must be within me…
The snowflakes and bonfire, too…
The flight of the Falcon
And the sadness of the Touch-me-not petal, too!

Another day…
Another world!
