SINS OF THE SOCIETY

“Righteousness cannot be born

until self-righteousness is dead.”

Bertrand Russell

‘Choice’ is one of the most self-empowering words! At every step, along our life-journey, we have the need to exercise our choices… Take it or leave it.

But, choices become clear to us only when we look at life with humility and compassion. The moment we play God – sit on the judgement throne – our choices do more self-harm, and, they also do harm to the society.

We aren’t ‘perfect’ human beings… We have vices; we have weaknesses. Now, doesn’t this realization come from our humility? The moment it comes, it makes us compassionate towards ourselves and others… We stop condemning both ourselves and others…

Life journey is a continuous journey of self-improvement. It keeps throwing up challenges before us – yes, to look at our own flaws and rectify them. Learn from our own mistakes, and become better human beings. So, when we are in such a state of grace, we rarely condemn others for their flaws… Because, we trust in the holistic process of ‘recovery’… If Life has given us a chance to make amends, it will give others, too, the same chance…

Forgiveness comes from forgiving ourselves. Till, we live in a denial – assuming that we are flawless – we blindly continue to ‘clean-up’ the society…

The ‘mess’, the ‘dirt’, the ‘filth’… yes, all of these are piling up within, while we are obsessed with the ‘sins’ of the society…

If alone we spend even one percent of time and energy - that we are now seen spending on ‘cleaning up the society’ - on cleaning up ourselves, this society would be such a wonderful place!

Self-righteous men and women can never make Life better. The men and women, who are conscious of their own flaws – yes, they alone can make this world a better place to live in. Love and compassion come from ‘flawed’ people, who repent, seek mercy and ‘return home’… The Prodigal Sons and Daughters have a special place in our ‘Father’s Home’, you see!

What a wonderful day is today! What a wonderful chance to see our own ‘defects’… and let others’ defects be!
