WITH THE WARMTH OF OUR HUGS

My son had come for just two days from Pune (where he studies).  He had specially come to meet his grand-parents, who were to leave for Mangalore, this morning. So, as my wife’s parents were leaving for the airport, our son left for Pune.

We had to bid farewell to both… our parents as well as our son!

“Take care.”… “Have a safe journey.”… “We will call you, once you reach,”… this is for our parents. “Please call, once you reach,” this is to our son… And, all these things had to be conveyed through the warmth of our hugs.

Hello, it is evening now… and, the warmth of our morning-hugs, I can still feel!

We have already called our parents… and, they have reached safely…

We did not wait for our son to call… We called him before he did. He, too, has reached safely…

We miss them…

There is this familiar vacuum…

Hearts alone know what it is, how it is… and, why it is!

Incidentally, today is the festive day of Diwali… Like every one else, I, too, have no count of the number of wishes I have received… yes, they have started pouring in since a week ago…

They are still pouring in… I am still counting. Rather, I have given up, counting!

I can Imagine, the state of the greetings which I had sent… hundreds of them!

The same feeling I get during Christmas and New Year…

Nobody’s greeting seems special… It is just there, because it is Christmas, it is New Year… It is Diwali…

Because everybody is wishing anybody!

Everybody and anybody is special!

That just can’t be!

I have been craving hard, since this morning, to ‘feel’ – I am serious when I say this – the warmth of the greetings I had sent to all those near and dear ones. I am still sending, and, I am still craving!

Every time, Christmas, New Year and Diwali come, I really wish I could wish all my dear ones the way I wished my son and parents, this morning…

That’s with a warm hug…

Where two hearts not only meet,

but also quietly whisper, listen… and feel!

A very special Diwali to all of you, my dear and near ones…

Yes, with a warm big-hug!
